For lovers of braids and superior quality hair extensions, Kanekalon is a known name, especially by stylists, hairdressers and hair distributors across Africa. It was no surprise that Kanekalon chose a day to say thank you to them with the Kanekalon Presents Arigato Stylist Event. Arigato is a Japanese expression for gratitude.

What glitz. What glamor. What a show of colours and style as guests turned up in their best braids, while showcasing their unique Africanness. In attendance were the big names in the industry such as Deaconess Mrs. Tom; Alhaja M.M. Bakare; Mrs. Okulate; Mr. Tony Bell and Mr. Martins Obiako. Also in attendance was the reigning Miss Kanekalon, Benahili Ojeme, her second runner-up, Opaluwa Ojotule; members of the media; as well as comedian Koffi and OAP Kaylah Oniwo who anchored the event.

Posthumous tributes were also paid to some pioneer distributors of hair such as Madam Comfort Erus, Madam Chika Tina, His Royal Highness and Lolo Romay.

Also at the event which took place at the Time Square, Lagos, Nigeria, on Saturday, 18th November were the Kanekalon team in person of Mr. Nakamura and Mr. Seko from Japan.

As part of the event, the brand unveiled the Kanekalon Hair Tips video featuring Benahili Ojeme, in which she thrilled the audience with tips on how to re-create her fabulous hairstyle. She then took the opportunity to invite other young African ladies to collaborate with their hair stylists to participate in the upcoming Miss Kanekalon 2018, as she took the crowd through her journey towards becoming Miss Kanekalon 2016, and stated how winning the pageant has changed her life for good. It was mentioned that more amazing hair tips videos would be showing soon on the Kanekalon Africa Facebook page.

Ojotule on her part informed guests about her exciting experiences and how her role as the second runner up of the pageant has led to amazing exposures for her as a young lady.

In his address to the 400 guests present, Mr. Seko mentioned the upcoming Miss Kanekalon 2018 Pageant, and invited young ladies to take part in it because of the level of exposure it will provide for both the queen and her stylists. He invited them to visit the brand’s Facebook page:

It was a glamorous day indeed as all invited guests were treated to an array of exotic foods and drinks, cool music and drama. There were also live product demonstrations that showed the soft and silky texture of the brand, its flame retardant nature and hot water set technology all of which have made Kanekalon the globally loved brand of quality synthetic fibre used for hair extensions.

And because for Kanekalon, action does indeed speak louder than words, the brand gave out various gifts to members of the hair associations present, certificates of appreciation and monetary rewards.
