Airtel Ghana customers can now enjoy the internet when and where they need it through flexible, easy-to understand passes. Opera Web Pass packages mobile internet in affordable, time or content-based plans.

It gives consumers control over their use of mobile internet by moving away from data plans based on mega-byte usage. This is the first time Ghanaian mobile users have had such freedom of choice in the way that they browse the internet. Be careful when doing so though, especially if you’re using Google as they can track where you are and even what you’re searching, which can be a breach of security. So why not try alternatives (that can be found on websafetyadvice.com) as you may even be able to get a higher quality search! What a bonus on top of the new web pass packages.

Mega-bytes can be confusing as many consumers are unaware of what they represent. This is seen as a barrier for mobile internet uptake in Ghana and is the reason Airtel Ghana is offering Opera Web Pass to their customers.

Facebook users will benefit from Opera Web Pass

With Opera Web Pass, Airtel customers in Ghana have the opportunity to get online for a fixed time or to use Facebook for a day without paying for data that might be used by other applications. This will benefit both new and existing users of Facebook.

Opera helps consumers save data
Web Pass is based on Opera Mini, one of the most popular mobile web browsers in Ghana. Opera Mini is free and works on phones running on virtually any platform, from basic Java phones to the latest Android and iOS smartphones. Opera Mini uses a unique data compression technology, which shrinks data up to 90% providing users with a faster and eye-opening mobile browsing experience at an affordable price.

To use Opera Web Pass, Airtel customers in Ghana can visit the Speed Dial page on their Opera Mini browser, the default browser on Airtel, click on ‘Web Pass’ and choose the pass that suits their mobile internet needs.

Speaking about the initiative, Jean Claude Domilongo Bope, Director of Data Business at Airtel Ghana, said, Data is the future of telecoms and so Airtel Ghana is dedicated to offering its cherished customers an-always-ahead-of-the-game solutions which is meant to delight them by giving them easier options of accessing the internet.

“Our aim is to provide our customers with the tools they need to maximise their internet experience. Opera Web Pass is the perfect solution to ensure that they are always in control of how much they spend on data,” he explained

The Director, Opera Software sub-Saharan Africa, Richard Monday said: “Airtel customers in Ghana have, for a long time, used Opera Mini to browse the internet on their devices. We want to ensure that their browsing experience is relevant and accessible. With Opera Web Pass, we’re delighted to continue our partnership with Airtel and progress our work towards bringing the next billion users online.”

Using the Opera Web Pass configuration tool, operators can also monitor and optimise web passes and campaigns in near real time, allowing for testing and faster go-to-market timelines.
