Cardi B Brouhaha: Lydia Forson, Afia Schwarzenegger, Others Have Low Self-esteem – Ola Michael

Movie producer and showbiz critic Ola Michael has described the Ghanaian female celebrities who trooped in to meet and greet Cardi B as people with low self-esteem.

He argues that these personalities are suffering from mental slavery, a reason they thronged the hotel to interact with the American rapper.

“I think they all have low self-esteem, they realized that there was a real star coming and then they were not anybody that we should be celebrating so they had to go and take pictures with the real star… We still have that mental slavery, that people from abroad and white are bigger and better than us. This is low self-esteem, that is what they exhibited,” Mr Ola told Ghanaweb in an exclusive interview.

The former Public Relations Officer of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) added that he is not bothered about the poor organization of the ‘Meet & Greet’; rather, he is “scandalized about the number of celebrities who trooped in to join a queue to speak and take a picture with Cardi B.”

On Sunday, Ghanaian stars including Lydia Forson, Akuapem Poloo, Afia Schwarzenegger, Becca, Sandra Ankobia, Victoria Lebene, Hajia 4real, Wendy Shay, Sister Deborah, Efia Odo, Salma Mumin, Nikki Samonas, Moesha Boduong and Jay Foley claimed they were “specially invited” to Kempinski Hotel for a ‘Meet and Greet’ session with Cardi B at 12 pm but after waiting for over five hours, they were informed that the rapper says she will be ready for the occasion at 8:30 pm.

This infuriated some of them, as they took to their social media pages to register their disappointment.

Responding to the attacks, Cardi B in a live video on Instagram said she was not aware of a scheduled meeting.

“I asked my booking agent whether I had a meet and greet and he said no. When I woke up, I went downstairs around 3pm to soak up some sun at the pool. I woke up and I saw this rage going on social media and everybody was like, you gotta do a meet and greet. I guess a lot of artistes were upset because they got invited to meet and greet and I wasn’t there and for that I apologize but it wasn’t my fault. When I was at the pool and the same girls talking shit about me, couldn’t walk up to me so I could be aware”. She fumed.
