Hours after Sarkodie’s History In The Making concert at the Apollo Theatre ended, he came under severe criticism from people who claimed he didn’t make any history.

He, however believes that he made some sort of history with his performance at the iconic event center.

He told Jeremie in an interview on Touchdown on Live FM that, he never claimed to have been the first to perform at the Apollo.

“And I never said I was the first person to perform at the Apollo. I was just saying the other day that it was history for me. If you get a picture opportunity with Jay Z and a year later I also get an opportunity to take a photo with him, that doesn’t mean because you did it I didn’t get my historic moment. I have also made history.

“I don’t think there’s so much difference between Apollo and our venues down here. No matter how you will like to downgrade what is here, it’s still yours and it’s still classy. If you look at National Theatre for instance, it’s almost the same as the Apollo. I think its way better, no it’s not way better but almost close to the Apollo. Just that Apollo has a name”.

He was thankful for fans who got tickets to attend the show.

“And I think the reason why people are proud of the Apollo is the way they sell their tickets. You need to have fans who are devoted. Normally tickets are open to all fans to buy but with this you need to hustle. So it’s the hustle to get the tickets that make it feel special to be at the Apollo.”
