I’d Like Same Energy Towards Injustices That Occur Locally Too – Lydia Forson

Lydia Forson has urged African Presidents to respond to cases of injustice that occur in their respective countries, just like they did with the death of George Floyd.

African Presidents including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo have called for justice for George Floyd and also condemned the inhumane treatment meted to black people in the United States of America.

Lydia Forson, however, expects African Presidents to boldly act on issues of injustice in their respective countries too, instead of waiting for international issues to speak on.

“Moving forward I’d like the same energy applied the injustices that occur locally too,” she stated in a tweet.

She added: “We can’t always wait for international outrage before we speak.”

Lydia Forson was among some Ghanaian celebrities who participated in the #BlackOutTuesday campaign.

#BlackOutTuesday is an online protest which was held on social media on June 2, 2020. People all over the world joined the #BlackOutTuesday campaign to support the Black Lives Matter movement and call for justice over the death of George Floyd.

Floyd died on May 25, 2020, after a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck.
