WHEN this year’s MTN Hitmaker sets off, the personalities who have the arduous task of judging the contestants will be sound engineer, Kaywa; artswriter, Francis Doku and singer, Eazzy.
According to the Acting Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, Noel Kojo Ganson, the three were chosen because of the level of understanding of the music industry they exhibited in Season 6.

“We had Kaywa as a beat maker but how he went about his duties caught our eye and we made him a guest judge last year. And he did amazingly well so this year we are maintaining him as a main judge.

“Francis on the other hand used to be a guest judge on MTN Hitmaker but this time, we are making him one of our main judges.

“He has over time proven to be someone with an in-depth knowledge of the music industry, he does not mince words, he says is it as it is and that is what we are looking for, someone who will bring out the best in the contestants,” he told Showbiz.

He added, “Then we have Eazzy, she has been a main judge for some time and we are maintaining her. She has so far been great, she knows her work and we are glad to have her back on.

“These are experienced people in the entertainment and music industry and their input is key for us. We appreciate their support for this season.”

An exicted Eazzy thanked the organisers for believing in her. “it is always a great pleasure to be part of something that will impact the music industry positively.

“Every season that I play the role of judge is an avenue for me to learn new things and I am looking forward to what this year will bring as well,” she said.

MTN Hitmaker is an original talent reality show open to Ghanaians who believe they have the talent, flair, confidence, style and attitude for stardom in the music industry.

The show has produced music talents such as Naterial (Season 1 winner) Koo Ntakra (Season 2 winner), Togbe, (Season 3 winner), Kidi (Season 4 winner) Kurl Songx (Season 5 winner) and Freda Rhymes (Season 6).

Another star who is a former MTN Hitmaker contestant is Lynx Entertainment signee Kuami Eugene who was on Season 5.

Noel Kojo Ganson said MTN considers the Hitmaker programme an important contribution to the development and promotion of rich genres of music in Ghana.

He added that they remain committed to the continuous development of the creative arts and entertainment industry in Ghana.
