Ahead of the most prestigious and most anticipated music awards scheme in Ghana, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2018, Kelvynboy has been announced winner of the Unsung Category.

The up and coming artiste under Stonebwoy’s Bhimnation label battled Dope Nation, Dhat Gyal, OBK, Real MC and Royal Chris at the VGMA 2018 Nominees Jam before an 8,000+ audience, at the Cape Coast Jubilee Park to win the ‘Unsung Category’.

Kelvinboy, with real name Kelvin Brown, is a Ghanaian afro pop/dancehall artiste who started music in 2008 singing in church. The 26-year-old singer and songwriter grew up listening to Fela Kuti, Bob Marley and Stonebwoy which he says influenced his music.

Kelvinboy has a unique musical style derived from his desire to sing and compose lyrics with everything happening around him. His soulful side, which he adopted from regularly singing in church, gives a twist to his melodic voice. He hopes to develop his music career around these various genres, afro-beat, afro-pop, reggae, dancehall and highlife. Set to put his lyrics and voice to the world, kelvin looks to soar higher in his music career.

As an awards package, Kelvynboy will have the unique opportunity to perform at this year’s edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, to be held on Saturday, 14th April, 2018 at the Conference Center. Additionally, Kelvinboy will be featured on Closeup platforms for a period of one year.

The Unsung category of the VGMA aims to project artistes who are doing well but need the platform to break the barrier into main stream music. He takes over from last year’s winner, Kuami Eugene of Lynx Entertainment, who’s received 5 nominations in this year’s edition of the VGMAs.

The 2018 edition of the Unsung Category of the VGMA is proudly brought to you by Charterhouse in partnership with Closeup Coolbreeze Toothpaste in their bid to encourage people to break the barriers that limit them.
