Ace broadcaster and emcee, Kwasi Kyei Darkwah (KKD) has lauded the personality and creative works of highlife musician, Bisa Kdei.

In a beautifully woven poetic piece posted on his Facebook timeline, KKD could not hide his admiration for the artiste, songwriter and music producer.

His Royal Blackness commended Bisa Kdei for his humility and lyrical dexterity saying, “This fine artist continues a great tradition observed by EK’s Band, Onyontofohene Nana Kwame Ampadu, Agya Koo Nimo, The Maestro Kojo Antwi, Amakye Dede, Daddy Lumba, Ofori Amponsah, Daasebre Gyamenah, Kwabena Kwabena and more over the last 6 decades to unite, instruct, comfort, humour, excite and inspire us.”

Bisa Kdei, for some time now, has dominated the highlife scene by releasing songs for the listening pleasure of music lovers. His songs, Mansa and Brother Brother has won many hearts with some industry watchers routing for him to be crowned Artiste of the Year at the 2016 Ghana Music Awards.

In August 2015, veteran highlife artiste, Aseibu Amanfi told Abrantepa on Radio Univers’ Brunch2Lunch that he was amazed at the ‘soothing’ voice of Bisa Kdei and would like to meet him.

“…there is this youngster who sang ‘Odo Carpenter’. Tell him I want to have a chat with him. I like his voice. He has a very nice voice,” he said.

With all these commendations, KKD hopes and prays Bisa Kdei will remain focused.

“It is our prayer that the young will cut tributaries that will be enlarged and entrenched to match and surpass the great rivers of old in world visibility,” a portion of his piece said.

Here is KKD’s post unedited:

Celebrating African Artistry: BISA K’DEI, Musician. “His cool, capability and composure Humility and Ingenuity Learning through each exposure Beautiful rhythms and melodies His hearty bow to tradition His respect and spirituality Invokes a sense of déjà vu When artists were driven by creativity

The fusion of Highlife, Kpanlogo and Afro Pop The spirited culture of Wulomei and Dzadzeloi The lyrical stature of The Maestro Kojo Antwi and earthiness of EK’s Band Come together in his music as a grand ploy To move your parents and children; man, woman, girl and boy To dance like there is no tomorrow To dance through our sorrow and moments of joy

A proud musician of Ghanaian heritage he is Sings his life songs with humility and peace Lights up the dance floor at classy parties And puts worrying minds of the hustlers at ease From his maiden dance tune Azonto Ghost Through his ground-breaking truth Metanfo To his thanksgiving anthem Give it to Baba And now his retro Brother Brother to Mansa This fine artist continues a great tradition Observed by EK’s Band, Onyontofohene Nana Kwame Ampadu Agya Koo Nimo, The Maestro Kojo Antwi, Amakye Dede, Daddy Lumba Ofori Amponsah, Daasebre Gyamenah, Kwabena Kwabena and more over the last 6 decades

To unite, instruct, comfort, humour, excite and inspire us A tradition whose torch bearers have blazed a fine trail Created a big river that flows downstream

For the young and energetic to sail smoothly to new realizations To alter the existing to better face the onslaught of foreign competition

It is our prayer that the young will cut tributaries that will be enlarged and entrenched to match and surpass the great rivers of old in world visibility The roots, the source, shall however never be lost if the fruits remember who and what did what before them

Tributes from each tributary shall be paid to the river(s) out of which each flowed

So too the fruits that nourish us this day must never be tossed aside in recognition of the maiden sources but celebrated side by side and given their due applause and pedestal amidst the shining lights.

Each devoted, accomplished artist who serves us meritoriously through song, performance and upliftment deserves a glorious place in OUR CULTURAL STORY.

Peace and blessings to BISA K’DEI for the joy and inspiration you bring to our nation, the diaspora and World Music.

God bless BISA K’DEI and all our dedicated musicians and devoted fans. God bless; nothing less.” -HRB
