Let’s Make Music Attractive – Bola Ray Tells Musicians

Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray, CEO of EIB Network, has called on all to rally behind the need to make music an attractive business and disabuse people’s mind that it is the preserve of school drop outs.

And that when music is made attractive, it will help change the narrative that it is only for those whose parents could not afford to further their education due to lack of funds or school drop outs.

Bola Ray made the call while speaking at the Africa Music Business Summit(AMBS) which forms part of activities marking the 5th All Africa Music Awards(AFRIMA) at Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel, Accra, today, November 22, 2018.

AFRIMA 2018 which is being hosted by Ghana started on November 21 and ends on Saturday, November 24 with the main awards ceremony at the Accra International Conference Centre(AICC).

“Let us try and give music some prominence, let us motivate people so they know the essence of music. Music is not for school drop outs, music is putting food on the table of people, why is the media not talking about that, why is everyone quiet on it.

“Look at the likes of Mr Eazi, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, among others. These guys are earning and fixing things in their lives so why don’t we try and clear this narrative.

“Look, if you earn $20,000 a month or even a year as a musician, who says it is bad business?, “ he asked.

Bola Ray who is also a radio and TV personality continued, “let’s motivate, encourage and give hope to others that, music is good business and it is an avenue worth venturing into. Music is a big deal”, he said.

He also urged that artistes are treated and paid well because they deserve it.

“We need to consider the efforts these artistes put in their work, stardom is nice, we, trying to give them platforms as event organisers is great but let us think about the money as well. Let’s pay them well because they deserve it.”

Not only did he ask that music should be made attractive Bola Ray also encouraged up and coming musicians not to give up on their dreams.

“I remember when we conceived the idea of Ghana Meets Naija concert about eight years ago, people talked as down. They said it will not be possible, others said, they should give my team and I just one year, we will fade out but today we are here, we’ve done Ghana, Nigeria and are still strong and poised to conquer many countries”, Bola Ray added.

Bola Ray, host of Starr Chat on Star FM and Revealed by Bola Ray on GhOne TV is undoubtedly one of the most successful young businessmen in the media landscape whose success story is now a motivation to the youth who look up to him.

He used his experience to encourage young entrepreneurs not to give up when things don’t go their way because God might have other plans for them.
