The musical abilities of President John Mahama’s son are self-evident and not down to the popularity of his father, his manager Sadiq Abu has revealed.

Rasheed Mahama has been trending for some time now on social media following the release of his debut single Bodam, which means ‘Go crazy’ in Akan.

“Rasheed is a talented artiste. When you listen to the song, you can testify for yourself he’s not thriving on his father’s image,” Sadiq told DJ Premier on Entertainment Capital on Accra100.5fm.

Sadiq said his artiste might take up music as a career after his education at the Ashesi University.

According to him, Rasheed has a lot under his sleeves “so, the world should watch out for him”.

Asked about what he made of the release of the song in an election year, Sadiq said: “Well, as an entertainer, I don’t see anything wrong with the release time. But if the party his father belongs to starts to say it’s affecting them, we’ll know what to do.

“I can’t confirm if the president has listened to his son’s song. That information hasn’t been made available to me yet,” he said. Rasheed Mahama goes by the stage name Hama.
