My Campaign Against Alcohol, Drugs On Pause Not Cancelled – Opanka

ema-based hiplife musician Armstrong Affum popularly known as Dadie Opanka has refuted claims that he has halted his well-accepted “Say no to Drugs and Alcohol” campaign targeted at the youth.

He said he has only paused the initiative in a bid to promote his music career, which would then translate into making the campaign more effective.

Opanka made this revelation on “The Zone” with KOD Thursday.

“The ‘say no to drug and alcohol’ campaign takes much time because we need to visit the schools and all. We’ve been on that campaign for quite some time, and we don’t get that time to do the music promo because I need the music to project what I need to do,” he said.

“So I need to relax, to get the music to push the agenda. People think I’ve stopped, but I have just paused,” he

Opanka explained that he initiated the campaign because he wanted to change the perception that secular musicians are bad examples to the youth.

“As a secular artiste I realized the perception out there was we are bad, we are stubborn and so most grown-ups, most parents don’t want their kids to become musicians.

“So, I realized we can use this music platform to preach something good. Because the kids look up to us and imitate us, so why not do something good, so they imitate that”, he said.

The musician stressed that he has never smoked nor taken alcohol
