Ghanaian musician Nhyiraba Kojo has alleged that his colleague entertainers who have decided to lead a vigil on May 16 in Accra have been paid by certain people. The musician in an interview with us on Tuesday said nobody will go outside to demonstrate for free.

He questioned why the celebrities leading the vigil were not seen campaigning against the deadly Ebola disease when it was killing thousands of people in Africa.

When asked if he will join the celebrities come May 16 for the vigil, the “Yaayi” hitmaker answered that “I don’t think so. I’m fighting against Ebola myself. Dumsor doesn’t kill. Have you heard that dumsor has killed anyone in this country before?”

He added that Ebola is killing many people and that is where attention should directed at.

“Those people have filled their pockets and they’re going to do their thing so I don’t have to follow them. I’ve to do my own thing as an African. The dumsor is a Ghanaian problem, but Ebola is an African issue.”

“Nobody will go outside and do this thing for free. I’m telling you the truth. Nobody will use hunger to demonstrate. Some people’s pockets have been filled”

He continued that he is busily promoting his Ebola track which features actor Lilwin and that will not allow him to join the vigil.

I would have supported them if they were doing something to fight Ebola but as for dumsor, I cannot join them even though what they are doing is not bad. Nothing will happen to you when you sleep in darkness but you will lose your life in a minute after you acquire Ebola”

NDC’s Stephen Atubiga in a Facebook post last week accused Yvonne Nelson, Sarkodie, Lydia Forson and others of doing the bidding of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) – an accusation they have flatly rejected.
