A price has been agreed for the transfer of the Ghana striker from FC Lorient to the Premier League

FC Lorient have accepted an offer of approximately £9 million from Aston Villa for Ghana striker Jordan Ayew.

According to the Birmingham Mail, the price was settled on Saturday evening, with the player set to move to Villa Park on a five-year deal.

The 23-year-old travelled across the Channel this weekend to add the finishing touches to his contract and to pass a medical with the Midlands side.

Jordan himself will surely be delighted that a fee has finally been agreed upon between the two clubs, having complained that his current employers had priced him out of a move in demanding too much from Villa.

Knowing that the Villains had recently received a £32.5 million windfall from Liverpool after the sale of Christian Benteke, Les Merlus were understood to be holding out for a considerable fee from the Birmingham heavyweights.

However, despite rumours of a £12 million fee having been mooted last week, it appears as though Lorient have relented and have agreed to let their star man leave for £9 million.

The forward found the net 12 times in Ligue 1 last season, and played a key role in helping Sylvain Ripoll’s side escape from relegation zone.

Despite his goalscoring form last term, the striker—who only left Olympique de Marseille to move to the Stade du Moustoir in the summer of 2014—continues to prompt questions about his character and maturity due to sporadic shows of petulance.

Before the recent Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritius, he had scored only two goals in 18 international outings for Ghana.
