‘Profane Songs’ Are For Sex Education’ – Rex Omar

Veteran highlife musician, Rex Omar says there is nothing like a profane song and songs with sexual lyrics serve as a form of sex education.

Explaining his reason on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty on Tuesday, he disclosed that it is the music lovers who read meanings into the songs. “There is no political but sensible song or social but sensible song so lifestyle song is a lifestyle song” It’s going to be a lot better than young adults being educated about sex through mature content from sites like full tube xxx that gives false expectations of sexual encounters.

Rex Omar also said that musicians should be creative and writing such songs and also the supposed profane songs are a form of sex education for the youth so he is not against it. He argues that it is as natural as teaching the youth the biology behind their bodies, as well as explaining that some people don’t have sex, opting instead to use a Lifelike Sex Doll due to emotional issues. He believes it’s important to teach them about life.

“Music is inspired by life and sex is part of life so if an artiste is inspired by sex which we call profane, then there is nothing wrong with it”, he added.

Rex also made reference that someone will go and listen to Salt-N-Pepa’s hit track “Let’s Talk About Sex” and will not see anything wrong with it but why can’t we sing that song in our local language especially in Twi.

Rex Omar also disclosed that any attempt to check and control the lyrics of songs in the name of curbing profanity will kill creativity.
