Rebranding Your Name Is Risky – Jupitar Tells Celebrities

Uncategorized Comments Off

Ghanaian dancehall and reggae musician, Michael Okine, popularly known Jupitar, says it takes only courageous celebrities to consider rebranding their names in Ghana.

According to him, though he will consider using his first name or middle name as his brand name, it is risky to do so.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Jupitar said he gave himself ‘The Moniker’ when he was in elementary school because “I knew I would become a star.”

“Since Jupiter is the biggest among the planets I felt I will become the biggest among musicians,” Jupitar told Andy Dosty.

The ‘Money Box’ hitmaker advised upcoming musicians to choose professional names when emerging, adding that, “any name you give yourself will have a psychological effect on you.”

“People become used to the one you came up with so changing it will cause a problem because they grow with you,” Jupitar said.

He, however, commended musicians such as dancehall musician Samini who changed his stage name after appearing in the music scene with Batman.
