There is growing fear that Hiplife artiste, Theophilus Tagoe, popularly known as Castro, has drowned together with a female friend, after both went missing during a jet ski ride in Ada on Sunday. Local fishermen have been organised to undertake the rescue mission. Castro, who hails from Takoradi in the Western Region and Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan were at Aqua Safari, a beach resort in Ada from Friday for recreation. Gerhard Urstrunter, General Manager of Aqua
Safari where they lodged on their first night told Accra-based Joy FM that a search was underway for Castro and his female friend who were on the Jet Ski. The search party is looking for both Castro and the female friend around the estuary, off the coast where a white man claimed he saw them. A large crowd trooped to the resort prompting police to cordon off the area. According to the District Chief Executive of Ada East John Nurudeen Ahortu, they were still waiting for the search party to possibly arrive with the ‘missing’ persons. Unofficial reports claim the ski boat they were riding and the life jacket used by Castro have been recovered. Benjamin Tettey, who was at the scene, told Tema-based Adom FM that it might take two or three days before the bodies are found. Meanwhile, Asamoah Gyan and his other friends are safe but speechless at this time. Gyan owns Baby Jet Promotions, which is the label Castro works under. They have been friends for more than 10 years. Castro was born in 1982 to Lydia Tagoe, a trader, and Mr Coffie, an accountant, at the Takoradi Harbour. He attended Anglican Primary and J.S.S in Takoradi. Before he launched his debut album in 2003, he had featured on hip-life group 4×4 hit track, “siklitele” which officially introduced him into the local music scene. His songs such as ‘Odopa’ ‘Seihor’, ‘AfricaGirls’ have received awards and long airplay over radio waves. More soon.
