Samini Shows Class At Glo Mega Music Show

Like fine wine, Dancehall artiste Samini, just gets better with time and on Saturday at the second edition of the Glo Mega Music Show held at the Trade Fair Centre’s Fantasy Dome in Accra, he proved once again that he was on top of his game with a sublime performance.

Samini was part of a line up of notable names including Stonebwoy, MzVee, Kofi Kinaata, Yemi Alade, Wizkid, Tekno and Diamond Platnumz but none of them could match up to the My Baby hitmaker’s performance when the show finally came to an end at 3 am.

Dressed in a pair of white trousers and a white shirt with wax print combination, Samini, who knows how to work the crowd, performed for close to two hours giving the audience great tunes like Linda, Movement, Time Bomb, My Baby and many others.

His freestyle and dance moves drew cheers from the excited audience and almost everyone was on their feet throughout his show.

After spending about an hour on stage, Samini wanted to exit for the next act but the audience wouldn’t let him go and urged him on, compelling him to stay and give them more.

He ended with the same energy he started with and it was clear he could have gone for hours had he been allowed.

Samini’s performance earned him a fan in Nigerian comedian, Gordons, who together with GHOne’s Nana Aba Anamoah hosted the show, as he applauded Samini for the performance saying he was one fine talent.

Yemi Alade, who turned in an exceptional performance at the first Mega Music Show was awesome again on the night. She performed songs like Mama Africa, Johnny, Bum Bum, Na Gode, Taking Over and Go Down.

Tekno’s performance at the last event was just ok but he killed it this time around. His performance on the night showed that he had taken care with his stagecraft and when he performed songs like Pana, Go, Jogodo and Your Love, the audience were with him.

Stonebwoy had an average night. When he got on stage, the noise level in the auditorium was deafening but unfortunately, he could not wow the audience as they had expected.

It was not a bad performance but not quite like what we have seen of him at previous shows. His voice was bit too high and at portions in his show, it felt like he was shouting.

MzVee, wearing a lovely all black costume, did a great job. Together with her dancers, she showed off some dance moves as she performed songs like Sing My Name, I Don’t Know, Come And See My Moda, Bokorbokor, Rewind among others.

Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, who was performing in Ghana for the first time also did well along with Kofi Kinaata.

Wizkid, who was the final act had everyone screaming when he came on stage and with little time left to end the show, he wasted no time dropping his hits like Slow Down, Ojuelegba, Caro, Come Closer, Dirty Wine, Sweet Love and Slow Whine while also interacting with his fans, telling them how much he loves them.

The show was an exciting one with no dull moments and the audience obviously felt it was time well spent.

The Glo Mega Music Show was the fourth in a series of five shows; a mixture of comedy and music, that Glo is bringing to its Ghanaian subscribers.

The final show, which will bring both musicians and comedian together, will be held in October.
