Multiple award winning music producer, Appietus, has revealed that he returned Akan of Ruff and Smooth’s money, and cancelled the production deal they had because the artiste was rushing the production. Appietus made this revelation on Behind The Art, a web series that documents black creatives.
According to the music producer, a song produced by him only comes out into the public when he is satisfied with the production. This, according to him, is regardless of how long production takes. The pro music producer also added that he does this in a bid to protect his brand, as he wouldn’t tolerate mediocre productions in his name.
“… i’m doing 50% of the song and the artiste is doing 50% …if i’m not enjoying what i’m doing, the music won’t come out because everyone will be shocked Appietus did that song and i don’t want that” he said. “…i’ve had problems like that with Ruff n Smooth Akan. We had a fight and i had to give him his money, because he was in a rush to do the song and i felt like we had to cool down…”
Appietus further added that a music producer cannot determine how the public would accept a song. According to him, there are times where he enjoys his production so much, but the response from public is usually to the contrary, while there are times where he feels meh about a production, and that is when the public embraces the music.
