Ewuraffe Orleans Thompson, the 19 year-old lady who accused broadcaster Kwesi Kyei Darkwah of raping her, has withdrawn her case against him.

Thompson is said to have written to the Attorney General’s office on Monday, saying she was no longer interested in pursuing the matter in court.

She says she’s put the matter behind her now and was looking to God to … “give her justice.”

KKD, whose lawyers failed to secure him bail at the Human Rights court today are elated about the new development.

The Justice Kofi Essel-Mensah court today adjourned to Thursday January 15 the case in which he was asking for bail away from the substantive case at the lower court.

The substantive case was due to be heard on January 22.

The embattled broadcaster was accused of raping the 19-year old, a charge he denied, insisting it was consensual.

Section 97 of the Criminal Offence Act (COA) categorizes rape as a first degree felony punishable by law. It is backed by Section 98, which defines rape as carnal knowledge of a female of not less than sixteen years without her consent.
